When to Use Each Level
Light compression is best for official documents that need to look perfect — certificates, legal documents, bank statements. The reduction is small (10–20%) but quality is completely preserved.
Medium compression works for most use cases — sending CVs, reports, assignment submissions. Text stays perfectly sharp; photos look nearly identical.
Strong compression is best when you just need the file to fit a size limit and print quality doesn't matter — quick approvals, WhatsApp sharing, informal references.
Tips for Better Compression
Scan at the right DPI. Most home scanners default to 600 DPI — far more than needed for documents. 200–300 DPI is sufficient for most purposes and produces much smaller files from the start.
